If you are ever unconscious and need medical attention you will wish you had done this. We all never hope to or expect to be in an accident, but accidents happen everyday. If you have any medical conditions or wish that the person would contact a loved one to know what happened then you have to read this post.
Emergency responders cannot readily access your phone if you have your screen locked. Here is a way that Apple lets you access your Medical ID from the lock screen for emergencies.
First, go to your Health App that is provided with your iPhone. I know this started with iOS 8, so if you have an older iPhone that doesn't have this then there are other options that you can have, but this option won't be one of them.
Next, at the bottom you will need to click on Medical ID. Then click Edit.
Here is where you will edit all your information, choose your Medical Notes, Allergies & Reactions, DOB, other Medical Conditions and your Medications. Scroll down and you will see even more options.
Here is more information that you can enter. Adding an emergency contact allows the emergency responder to call that person directly from your iPhone. You can add other info if you would like also. Then click Done.
To access it go to your lock screen and click Emergency. You do not need to punch in your code to see this.
Here is what the Medical Responder will be able to see. You can also see that they are able to call the Emergency Contact person, that you assigned, directly from your iPhone. Every iPhone user needs to do this. It could save your life!
This is the screen where you can call 911 if need be or anyone can access your Medical ID. Click on Medical ID to view.
