Twitter: Limited to 140 characters most people use this for telling their friends how their day is going or in the extreme situation they tweet to others when there is a disaster and to let their friends and family know that they are safe. Business and ones in the Movie Biz use this for profit. They sometimes get paid to tweet a short message about a product to get their followers to buy that product. Facebook: Many use this social media. Like Facebook, most social media depends on you. What are your friends using? What does your family use? If everyone is using Facebook than it is easier to keep in touch with those ones if you use it. If not, well, it doesn't do you much good. So find out what everyone you know uses and try to get the same one. There are so many out there, so just ask around to see who is using what. Instagram: Mainly Instagram was used to send pictures to your friends about what you are doing. Doing so well, Facebook decided to buy Instagram out. Again, the most important thing to think about when choosing which one to use, if any, is who you will be trying to connect with. Linkedin: 225 million members strong this social network is a great way to find connections to get a job. If you need to get in with a company you can find out who of your friends or family knows someone that works there and then get in touch with them to ask how to get in. If they tell you the right person to get in touch with or if they can drop your name to the right person then things can happen and you can get the job you want. Snapchat: Youths have found this social media very entertaining, but beware, this can have a dangerous side to it. Snapchat is all about sending short videos that the sender can put a "self destruct" timer on it. So it is only available to the certain person and for a specific time. Beware if you are a parent because this can lead to "Sexting". This involves sending nude or partially nude photos to others. Just be careful of this since it doesn't leave a history like other social media sites out there. Google +: This is a good way to share pictures with only the people you want to share them with. Also videos work well here too. You add your friends to your circles and then you send messages, pictures, videos to them or even to the public. Google always wants a lot of information from you. Just make sure you only put what you want to put on there. Private things should stay off the internet anyways. Of course be careful with any information posted online. Do not tell people when you will be out for vacation or do not put up your schedules because it would be very easy for someone to rob your home. Just use common sense, although that is not very common anymore. Problem: So with the recent iOS 7 and Mavericks update I had some problems with opening Numbers files that I create on my computer, it says "Spreadsheet can't be imported. The document was created with an unsupported application version." Weird since I just updated both of them. This is what I saw. Solution: File > Export To > Numbers '09... |
